2008 Grenache Reserve Santa Barbara County | 200 cases produced.
85% Grenache and 15% Syrah. 100% of the fruit comes from the Santa Barbara Highlands Vineyard grown at 3000 feet. 24 months in neutral barrels and bottled without fining or filtration. It has a medium red color, with pale meniscus with redolent, baked cherry, black cherry nose & palette, and a medium-plus finish.
Critics Review
Rhone Report: Tasted out of barrel, the 2008 Core Grenache looks to be outstanding. While slightly closed on the nose, showing dense cherry and spice notes, the wine possesses a fantastic palate with beautiful fruit, a thick, rich mid-palate, and a very focused, structured finish. It will be interesting to see how this shows from bottle, but my guess is that it will benefit from 1 to 3 years of bottle age and then drink well for a decade. 90-93 points.
